Christian Education

"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." ~ (Prov. 22:6)

Childcare is available on Sunday mornings in the nursery just off the Parish Hall on the main floor. Nursery care begins at 9:00 a.m. and lasts through the 10:00 service. Snacks are also provided. Care is also available for some special services throughout the year.

Children are a very important part of worship at St. John's Episcopal Church. Our program, taught by enthusiastic teachers, begins with children aged three year olds through high school. Sunday School for grade school age children is after the 10:00 a.m. service and taught by Julie Keith. The name of the curriculum for the high school students is "Bible Studies for Life,?¢?? a curriculum designed to help show students where the Bible meets their life, with discussions and applications of key biblical truths for their lives right now. High School students meet in the home of Julie and James Keith each Wednesday.

All children are welcome to Sunday school, whether they are a regular member or visitor. Elementary Sunday school classes are located downstairs below the parish hall. Visitors will be immediately guided to the right classroom. For more information on the high school program, please contact the church office. (217-428-4461).

St. John's believes in life-long learning and therefore several opportunities are offered for adult learning. . .

Sunday Morning Adult Education:

Various topics (i.e. church history, current issues, lectionary study, book discussions, evangelism, etc.) are offered for discussion between both services beginning at 8:45 a.m. and lasting until approximately 9:50 a.m. Class opportunities and subject matters change throughout the course of the year. Adult Education is held in the Guild Room and/or the Chapel just off the Parish Hall on the main floor. Watch the Sunday bulletins and Eagle's Nest (newsletter) to learn more about current offerings.

Friday Morning Bible Study:

This group meets each Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Guild Room. All are welcome.
